ResponsibilitiesThe RN ECMO Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of operational, practice, and personnel activities to ensure the provision of quality services within the ECMO work unit. This individual promotes excellence based on department specific and organizational goals. The RN ECMO Supervisor creates a professional environment conducive to the delivery of quality patient care and is an advocate for patient and staff safety. This position includes ongoing collaboration and communication with all other Mayo Clinic services to enhance patient care and assure that appropriate care is delivered for the population served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of extracorporal life support along with the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's specific need is required. The RN ECMO supervisor supports leadership through activities that may include development of staff, teaching, hiring, staffing the unit, staff performance reviews, and participation in committees and research. Leadership is provided based on the Mayo Clinic's mission, vision, and values.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
QualificationsGraduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program. Masters preferred. A minimum 1 years' experience as an ECMO Specialist. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Function with initiative and independent judgment. Desire for continuous quality improvement. Demonstrates skills in leadership, problem solving, and team building. Clinical expertise in extracorporeal circulation and patient management. Demonstrates advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office products, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Leadership experience preferred. Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
