You’ll work with upgraded technology in a collaborative, patient-focused environment, supporting advanced services like MR prostate imaging and comprehensive implant scanning. Our schedule is designed with you in mind; we rotate evenings, weekends, and call without overnight shifts, and closely monitor call-ins to minimize after-hours disruptions.

The MRI Technologist is a valued step in the UPMC Imaging career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties in accordance with system-wide competencies, behaviors, and organizational standards.
- Maintains MRI safety practices at all times, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Demonstrates and maintains clinical competency across all exams and imaging equipment.
- Reviews, processes, and archives imaging studies accurately and efficiently.
- Reviews patient history and physician orders prior to exams, presenting all relevant information in accordance with established protocols.
- Accurately identifies patients using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocol for all procedures.
- Applies departmental protocols to ensure optimal image quality, including proper preparation, labeling, and administration of contrast when required.
- Documents patient history and exam details in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provides exceptional patient care by communicating clearly, addressing concerns, and creating a respectful, supportive environment.
- Collaborates effectively with team members and interdisciplinary departments to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
- Communicates procedure instructions clearly to patients, helping to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Ensures all exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented within the RIS system, including accurate charge entry and image archiving for interpretation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
