Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Hourly Rate: $50.00 – $60.00 per hour based on experience
Location: Hamtramck, MI
Onsite – School Setting
Position Summary
As a School-Based Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), you will provide speech and language therapy services to K-12 students within a school setting while supporting communication development and academic success. This role includes conducting evaluations, managing caseloads, collaborating with educators and families, and implementing individualized treatment plans in accordance with Michigan special education regulations. - Travel required between multiple school buildings
Key Duties
- Provide speech and language therapy services to K-12 students in school-based settings
- Assist teachers and staff with language acquisition and sound awareness strategies through modeling, lessons, and team teaching
- Conduct speech and language evaluations and determine eligibility in accordance with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
- Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Participate in intervention team meetings to support students at risk for language acquisition difficulties
- Act as a liaison between school and home to encourage parent involvement
- Maintain and submit accurate records and reports in a timely manner
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborate effectively with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adhere to school policies, administrative procedures, and state and federal regulations
- Participate in ongoing professional growth and demonstrate leadership and professionalism
Requirements
Education
- Required: Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
- Required: Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours of academic credit in communication development, evaluation, and treatment techniques related to speech and language disorders
Licenses & Certifications
- Required: State of Michigan certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Required: School-Based (SB) endorsement and/or Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Clinical Fellows (CFs) are encouraged to apply
- Required: Minimum of 300 supervised practicum clock hours with individuals presenting a variety of communication disorders
Skills
- Demonstrated skills in assessment and treatment of articulation, language, voice, and fluency impairments
- Strong understanding of language acquisition strategies within educational settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Ability to adapt to district-specific instructional strategies and educational environments
