The End-of-line (EOL) On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of diagnostic functions used on conventional gasoline internal combustion green engines & hybrid propulsion platforms within the vehicle assembly plants. Responsibilities include requirements & controls model reviews, beta testing, calibration development, validation, and production calibration releases.
This engineer will also provide hands‑on support to assembly plant operations by monitoring build quality, performing root‑cause analysis of line issues, delivering technical training, and collaborating closely with plant triage engineers. The engineer will participate in cross‑functional root‑cause and problem‑solving activities, represent the EOL calibration team in technical and management reviews, and take ownership of assigned issues through resolution. Additional responsibilities include monitoring early field and warranty data to drive continuous improvement in diagnostic robustness and end‑of‑line test coverage.
The following responsibilities apply to the EOL OBD Engineer:
- Develop, validate, and release vehicle calibrations that ensure CARB and TSRC compliance for EOL OBD systems on internal combustion and electric propulsion platforms. Development of design validation plans (DVP) is necessary.
- Plan, generate, and verify EOL & Rolls/Dyno calibrations in engineering development, pilot plant and final vehicle assembly environments in accordance with powertrain system functional objectives along with generating reports to communicate program status to product management teams.
- Work cross functionally with engine development, powertrain controls & software, vehicle program teams and vehicle manufacturing teams to identify and implement calibration solutions that achieve vehicle & powertrain program requirements.
- Proactively monitor plant databases for build issues and work with plant triage engineers for data collection and root causing issues.
- Support plant Production Evaluation Requests (PER) by providing test status of program OBD routines and participate in PER reviews.
- Monitor field quality for warranties on low mileage vehicles to perform continuous improvements on end-of-line diagnostics and plant build quality.
- Travel up to 4-12 weeks throughout the year from prototype builds through production launch support. Note:
- Vehicle assembly plants supported are global and international travel is a requirement. (Candidate Must be able to travel unrestricted & currently hold proper documentation to work in U.S.A.)
- Flexible work hours are required to coincide with manufacturing plant operation needs.
