The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. Job Summary:
Performs MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exam in the hospital by selecting specific software parameters according to established protocols in order to assist the referring physician in diagnosis. Prepares and positions patients, injects patients with contrast media, and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
Job Responsibilities:

Performs MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exam on identified patients according to department procedures and protocols by selecting specific software parameters in order to assist the referring physician in diagnosis. Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body. Prepares contrast materials, injects patients with contrast media. |
Performs MRI safety screening process of patient, staff and equipment by following contraindications protocol to ensure the safety of patient, staff and equipment in the MRI environment. |
Accurately inputs data into the RIS by tracking procedure performed as well as data required in order to capture exam and supply charges, resource allocation and other relevant information. Transfers correctly annotated images into PACS. |
Performs venipuncture as needed to inject contrast agents. |
Reviews physician's order and patient's CPOE requisition for completeness by reviewing the clinical information, pertinent laboratory results and the patient's chart to ensure the correct procedure is performed and the proper patient preparation administered. |
Explain procedures to patients and addresses their concerns. Utilizes appropriate infection control techniques to ensure a safe work environment. Practice infection control protocols and practice standard precaution techniques. |
Appropriately maintains exam rooms, supplies and equipment according to performance standards. Maintains area supplies and reports equipment malfunctions. Performs and documents quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system. Transports patients as necessary. |
Maintains clinical proficiency and annual health stream. Participates in the department quality, safety and compliance initiatives. Performs mandatory annual level II personnel training. |
When necessary, provides clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining an understanding of policies, procedures and the clinical competency process in order to evaluate student growth and competence in performing imaging procedures |

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiography program (ARRT) or graduate from American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARM RIT)
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
Experience with PACS and digital Technology.
Knowledge of cross-section anatomy preferred.
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information.
Basic computer skills
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
