Job Summary and Qualifications
The staff respiratory care practitioner provides a variety of technical and clinical therapies to patients of all ages, requiring strong clinical judgment and a commitment to the hospital mission. In this role, you will deliver respiratory, pulmonary function, and oxygen therapies while managing associated clerical duties and potentially serving as a shift leader. You will work in a dynamic environment that may include exposure to medical equipment noise and hazardous materials, requiring a flexible schedule to meet patient demands and hospital census needs.
What you will do in this role:
Provide a variety of technical and clinical therapies including respiratory, pulmonary function, and oxygen therapy
Exercise rational judgment while performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
Manage clerical duties associated with respiratory procedures
Function as a shift leader when assigned and supervise less experienced practitioners
Perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklists
Meet mutually agreed upon performance goals and objectives established annually
Protect sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on call as necessary
Utilize personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols for hazardous materials
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of an NBRC approved school of Respiratory Care
Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Tennessee Department of Health
Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRTT) designation
Basic Life Support Certification upon hire
Ability to obtain ACLS certification within one year of hire
