Join a Team with Heart 💜
Become part of a dynamic surgical unit where teamwork, compassion, and positivity are at the core of everything we do. Our Surgery 2 Unit cares for a diverse patient population recovering from complex surgical procedures, providing both post-operative care and ongoing support throughout the healing process.
This unit specializes in caring for patients post spinal surgeries (including laminectomies and spinal fusions), craniotomies, and VP shunts. You’ll also support patients recovering from bariatric procedures such as gastric sleeve and bypass surgeries, cardiothoracic surgeries including video-assisted thoracoscopies (VATS), as well as some general surgery overflow. On weekends, the team may also assist with select ED overflow patients.
Nurses on this team play a critical role in monitoring recovery, managing pain, preventing complications, and helping patients regain strength and independence—while supporting patients and their families every step of the way.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
- Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to post-surgical patients with a variety of complex conditions
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and intervene quickly to ensure safe recovery
- Manage pain, administer medications, and support post-operative healing and mobility
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans
- Educate patients and families on recovery, medications, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold safety and quality standards
