As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you'll coordinate and deliver nursing care to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric, across the spectrum of illness to wellness.
In this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care at all levels
- Performing age-appropriate assessments and providing safe, effective care
- Executing triage using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process
- Documenting nursing care and patient responses in a medically and legally acceptable manner
- Collaborating with providers, peers, and ancillary departments for optimal patient care
- Prioritizing and coordinating care for multiple patients efficiently
- Communicating patient needs clearly and advocating for them as necessary
- Participating in professional development and completing required education
- Monitoring life support equipment and administering treatments, including medication and emergency protocols
- Responding calmly and efficiently to crises, using delegation appropriately
- Ensuring compliance with legal and legislative requirements
- Maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for the next shift
- Providing educational experiences for emergency providers and students
- Demonstrating proficiency in computer documentation of patient care
Requirements include:
- Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nursing license
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or ATCN certifications; ENPC preferred, NRP encouraged
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Need 2 years experience in setting
