Job Summary and Qualifications
Join our team in the Burn Intensive Care Unit providing critical care for burn patients requiring intensive therapeutic interventions resulting from injury serving patients and their families in Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana.
As a highly-skilled and compassionate Burn ICU Nurse you will provide critical care expertise along with excellent patient care on our Burn intensive care unit. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. You will be part of a specialized team that pulls together to provide a quality patient care experience.
In this role:
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary team such as other nurses, physicians, psychologists, pain management experts and physical therapists to ensure for physical and emotional support of patient and families
- Assess temperature and vital signs and characteristics of urine and sputum every 1–4 hours.
- Monitor white blood cells, burn wound healing status and invasive catheter sites.
- Ensure appropriate protective isolation; provide meticulous wound care; educate visitors in burn unit guidelines.
- Clean and dress burns following guidelines specific to the type of burn
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary team such as other nurses, physicians, psychologists, pain management experts and physical therapists to ensure for physical and emotional support of patient and families
- Triage, stabilize, monitor and manage pain and fluid balances
- When census is low in the Burn Unit be willing to float to other units such as ICU or PICU.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.
- 1-2 years ICU nursing experience preferred
- Associates degree in nursing required, Bachelor preferred
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS on hire
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS is required within 6 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
- TNCC is required within 18 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
- PALS is a highly recommended advanced course, however, is not mandatory.
- Level I competencies are required to be completed by the end of the first 18 months of employment
- Level II competencies are required to be completed by the end of the third year of employment
