Step into a unit where teamwork, dialogue, and positive culture thrive. Our Cardiac Intermediate Unit serves as a step-down between ICU and Telemetry, specializing in the care of patients recovering from open-heart and vascular surgeries, complex cardiac procedures, and advanced cardiovascular conditions. Nurses in this environment deliver high-acuity care with the support and collaboration of a strong multidisciplinary team—making it an ideal place for nurses who want to build advanced skills in a progressive care setting.
You’ll gain hands-on experience with:
• Managing and titrating drips such as amiodarone, primacor, and cardizem
• Caring for patients immediately following open-heart and vascular surgeries
• Monitoring telemetry and supporting post-operative cardiac recovery
• Managing complex heart and vascular cases requiring specialized interventions
• Collaborating closely with intensivists, cardiologists, and surgical teams
What makes this unit stand out:
• A true step-down specialty unit—high acuity, but with strong resources and team support
• Growth opportunities—many of our Nurse Leaders began their careers here
• 24/7 leadership support, including weekends
• Rapid Response team always available for backup
• A diverse, energetic team that values advanced skills, critical thinking, and positivity
If you’re ready to advance your career in cardiovascular nursing—gaining the skills of an ICU nurse with the support of an intermediate care setting—this is the place to be.
