🛠️ Diesel Mechanic Needed: Help Us Keep the Wheels Turning in Weldon/Halifax, NC!

Are you the kind of person who hears a heavy-duty engine roar and instantly knows exactly how it’s running? Do you look at a massive piece of machinery and think, "Yeah, I can fix that—and make it run even better"?

If you're ready to bring your elite wrenching skills to a team that actually values your hard work, GFL Environmental wants you! We are looking for a skilled, energetic Diesel Mechanic to join our crew in the Weldon/Halifax, North Carolina area.

At GFL (Green For Life), we don’t just handle waste and recycling; we keep our communities clean, green, and moving forward. And we can’t do that without our absolute rockstars in the shop.

What You’ll Be Doing (The Fun Stuff):

Diagnose & Conquer: Use top-tier diagnostic software and your mechanical intuition to figure out exactly what’s ailing our heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG rigs, and specialized equipment.
The Ultimate Rebuild: From standard preventative maintenance to full-blown engine and hydraulic repairs, you’ll be the doctor keeping our massive rolling stock alive and kicking.
Master the Shop: Utilize an epic arsenal of hand and power tools in a clean, organized workspace.
Be the Expert: Plan out repairs in our M5 system, order the parts you need, and help mentor newer team members who want to learn from the best.

What We’re Looking For:

The Experience: You’ve got at least one (1) year of solid experience under your belt working as a diesel mechanic.
The Toolbox: You bring your own tools and a massive pride in ownership.
The Brains: You have a high school diploma/GED (a technical diploma is an awesome bonus!) and you're computer literate enough to master our software systems.
The Vibe: You work safely, communicate well with the team, and love the feeling of a job well done.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

Never Boring: You’ll get to work on a massive, diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks, hydraulic systems, and specialized equipment. No two days are ever the same!
Competitive Pay & Benefits: We take care of our own with great pay, solid benefits, and a schedule that keeps you local so you can actually enjoy your life outside of work.
Room to Grow: We invest in our people. Keep up with the latest industry technology through our company-sponsored technical manuals and training seminars.

Physical & Environmental Realities (The Nitty Gritty):

Let's be real—this isn't a desk job. You’ll be lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 100 pounds, working in a loud, high-energy shop environment, and dealing with hot, cold, and everything-in-between North Carolina weather. If you thrive on active, hands-on hard work, you're going to love it here.

Ready to Join the Green Team?

Don't let your talent idle in a boring shop. Apply today and let's get you behind the wheel of a great career!

We thank you for your interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
