A new Consultant Engineer at FM will learn to engineer risk mitigation solutions from experienced mentors and a community-based work culture for the first 12-18 months.Initially, assignments will be of limited scope andcomplexitygiving you the opportunity to learn. You will gradually begin assessinghazardsat larger, more complexsites. Over time, you will build relationships with clientsandbecome a trusted resource,with a depth ofexpertisein the loss prevention field.You will work with minimal supervision and must be capable of working independently.
Job responsibilities will include:
Conductengineeringevaluations which include, but are not limited to, sitefire protectionwater supplies,sprinkler protection, combustibledust hazards,chemical storage, andequipment breakdown potential.
Deliver a written reportfollowing each client site visit,following all FMguidelinesand training provided, to ensure procedural and technical accuracy, consistency,andtimelydelivery.
Travelisrequiredto clients' facilitiesfor site visits. Allclient sitevisitswill be withindriving distance from your home, and a company car is provided. Additionaltravel will include attending classes atFM’sTraining Center(near Boston Massachusetts), andtravelto the FM Cleveland office for events, networking,andadditionaltraining. Overnight travelshould beexpected approximately30% of the time.

Successful Consultant Engineer candidates have the following qualifications:
Physical ability to lift 25 pounds,walkand stand comfortably during client site visits (which can last all day),able to climb ladders, balance, and deal with heights.
