Carroll Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Wound Care team. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients requiring wound treatment, evaluation, and education. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory standards, and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with Carroll Hospital policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and document patient health data while maintaining privacy and a therapeutic environment.
- Apply principles of growth and development and utilize the nursing process across all patient interactions.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to hospital infection control protocols and using universal precautions.
- Accurately document and communicate variances in patient outcomes, critical values, and read-back procedures within established timeframes.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and communicate care plans effectively with physicians, families, and the healthcare team.
- Formulate outcomes and plan care collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Coordinate resources to ensure smooth patient care transitions and discharges.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and initiate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Adhere strictly to medication administration standards, including medication reconciliation and the "Five Rights."
- Follow regulatory and safety guidelines from JCAHO, UHMS, and other governing bodies.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives, such as preventing "Never Events" and meeting National Patient Safety Goals.
- Promote teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability to meet institutional goals and changes.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment in all aspects of care.
- Maintain accountability and manage workload efficiently, promoting smooth patient flow and proper documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of documentation and billing codes, including use of appropriate modifiers and procedure levels.
- Assist in training and mentoring peers; serve as a preceptor when needed.
- Use safe lifting techniques and equipment in accordance with hospital policy.
- Support employment processes and actively contribute to a positive work culture.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Active Maryland RN license (MBON)
- Certifications: Current AHA BLS Provider certification required
- Experience:
- Wound care experience is preferred
- Prior experience in outpatient or hospital-based wound care strongly preferred
Credentials:
Essential:
* Wound Care Certified
*AHA BLS Provider Required
* Maryland Board of Nursing RN License Required
Essential:
* 3-5 years of experience preferred.
