The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.
Position summary:
Uses independent judgment, ingenuity and acquired knowledge to maintain a fast paced Respiratory Department. Facilitates day to day operations for a 24/7 operational department.
The incumbent demonstrates leadership skills and is accountable for the quality of patient care, the performance of Respiratory financial stability and growth. Maintains scheduling for RGH and MMH campuses. Completes introductory and annual staff review evaluations. Manages staffing levels according to matrix-based protocols. Policy review and revision, inventory management, QI and, facilitates daily huddles, department specific KPIs and staff meetings. Represents Respiratory Therapy in activities, meetings, and committees.
Works collaboratively to design and implement competency programs, orientation, and education to CP staff. Responsible for developing and conducting in-service programs and continuing education for all CP staff. Provides orientation to new residents and RNs as applicable. Serves as a skilled resource to CP staff, Physicians, RN educators and ancillary support departments.
Provides clinical leadership and expertise. Facilitates the development of collegial relationships. Visible, accessible and committed to communicating effectively with staff. Promotes the profession of Cardiopulmonary and professional practice.
Works collaboratively with the Quality Improvement Department to ensure the Cardiopulmonary Department is in compliance with JCAHO, state and federal standards.
Performs safe Respiratory Therapy modalities as ordered by physician, develops a plan of care based on assessment data and standards of care. Identifies need for alternative action in the treatment plan and involves the multi-disciplinary team in revisions to plan of care. Has a strong understanding of the operations.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
· Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program. Must provide a copy of diploma or transcript upon hire. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
· The candidate must hold the credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care and a current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
· Minimum 3-5 years of recent skilled respiratory experience including neonatal
· The candidate will hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and maintain certification as required by the organization.
· Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),
