Dell Medical School is seeking a Senior Provider Behavioral Health Consultant. This position has an end date of 8/31/2027 but may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.
JOB SUMMARY
This role supports mental health programs and initiatives developed through the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium, with a focus on improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for children and adolescents across Texas.
The Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN) are an interdisciplinary clinical services program intended to offer primary care clinic providers and OBG/YNs prompt access to on-call psychiatrists to provide expertise in assessment, treatment, and referrals for pediatric and/or perinatal patients identified as having a mental health challenge. The Senior Provider Behavioral Health Consultant (LPC-S or LCSW-S) will provide consultation services to providers, such as pediatricians, family medicine physicians, OB/GYN physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and/or midwives needing assistance with patient behavioral health concerns, psychiatric consultation, behavioral management plans, or resources with the goal of increasing access to mental health services for mothers, children, and adolescents. This position will serve as lead Behavioral Health Consultant and work efficiently to help providers manage mental health concerns and facilitate referrals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Consultation and Coordination
Manages and evaluates primary care provider requests in assessment, diagnosis, behavioral management, and referral assistance according to program protocol.
Communicates requests to program psychiatrists within prescribed timelines and provides psychoeducation, referral information, and resources upon request.
Standardizes clinical communication while obtaining psychiatry consultative services in the context of youth and perinatal mental health.
Oversees and collaborates with primary care clinicians, psychiatrists, and program staff on CPAN direct service line.
Provides leadership and coordination for consults and referrals for children, adolescents, and mothers with mental health needs.
Clinical Documentation, Training, and Quality Assurance
Standardizes clinical documentation and communication processes to meet HIPAA standards on program platforms.
Leads internal and external clinical trainings on perinatal and child/adolescent mental health.
Leads case consultations and conducts in-depth case reviews to inform program practices, minimize risks, and standardize clinical service delivery.
Follows standard criteria to track project progress and status to ensure alignment with program objectives.
Participates in supervision, feedback, and quality assurance checks.
Maintains records and performs data entry as required by protocol.
Provider Outreach and Enrollment
Staff Support and Supervision
Assists with onboarding of new clinical staff.
Provides clinical supervision to provisionally licensed clinical staff (e.g., LMSWs or LPC-Associates), which may include student learners, as requested by program leadership.

Participates in special projects or initiatives related to CPAN and PeriPAN as assigned by program leadership.
Assists with development or revision of program protocols, workflows, and training materials as needed.
Attends conferences, workshops, or continuing education sessions to maintain licensure and stay current on best practices in pediatric and perinatal mental health.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet program goals and objectives.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related discipline with at least 3 year(s) of experience in a medical, educational, or nonprofit setting, with at least one (1) year providing clinical supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in health systems caring for patients with behavioral or mental health challenges.
Experience working with PCPs, OB/GYN physicians, and/or family practitioners.
Experience working across programs, departments, and/or institutions to achieve goals.
Proficiency in at least one electronic medical records system, e.g., Athena or Epic.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
