About the Role
The Industrial Truck Mechanic Apprentice position is a developmental opportunity designed for individuals with interest—but little to no prior experience—in heavy equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. This apprenticeship provides hands-on learning, formal instruction, and mentorship from experienced mechanics, with the goal of preparing the apprentice to become a fully qualified Industrial Truck Mechanic.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Assist in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing industrial trucks and mobile equipment
• Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues under supervision
• Support preventative maintenance activities, including fluid checks, lubrication, and parts replacement
• Operate and maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair machinery safely
• Document repair activities and maintain accurate service records
• Learn OEM service procedures and participate in related technical training
• Work alongside experienced mechanics to build proficiency toward independent repair capabilities
What We Are Looking For
• Strong interest in heavy equipment, mechanics, or industrial maintenance
• Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work within safety guidelines
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in varied environmental conditions
• Solid communication and documentation skills
• Willingness and ability to learn technical procedures and complete required apprenticeship coursework
Conditions of Employment
• Successful candidate must complete a post-offer physical examination, drug/alcohol screening, and background check
• Commitment to completing apprenticeship training hours and required technical instruction
• Must adhere to safety policies, PPE requirements, and all company procedures
Work Environment
• Work occurs in shop and field environments with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, dust, and elevated noise levels
• Tasks may involve standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and working around heavy machinery
