The Hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Center. For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. Backus is home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and is the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. The Hospital delivers and coordinates a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of its communities.

Qualifications
Advanced Practitioner Requirements
- Nurse Practitioners (APRN) positions require National certification in Advanced Practice, MSN, and current CT Nurse Practitioner (APRN) License or eligible required.
- Adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) board certification required for nurse practitioners.
- Physician Assistants (PA) positions require current CT Physician Assistants (PA) License and Board certification or eligible.
- All disciplines require Federal DEA, and CT Controlled Substance Registration
- ACLS/BLS
- ATLS to be supported by Backus.
- 7+ years of Surgical Critical Care experience required; 10+ years of experience preferred.
