Transportation Manager CDL Class A Required to drive trucks when needed

- Shift Days and Hours: 1st (M-F, 7:00am – 5:30pm, once a week to once every other week 4:30 AM, occasionally stay late, an occasional Saturday for a meeting)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinate routes by examining product dimensions and weight for each order and identify and evaluate any special needs for each load.
- Determine the most efficient vehicle for route completion.
- Coordinate all jobsite and truckload deliveries with customer base, sales and production.
- Assign qualified drivers to operate equipment.
- Manages a company-owned truck fleet, company drivers, and third-party carriers
- Responsible for daily and monthly audits and reports related to fleet, fuel, risk management, driver logs, inspection reports, accident registers etc.
- Responsible for all driving training in partnership with Employee Health & Safety Manager
- Maintain DOT Compliance through proper record keeping, training and monitoring.
- Supervises assigned personnel and maintains all necessary paperwork/records, in partnership with the HR department
- Assure that all employees receive proper training and that they are working safely each day.
- Develops and maintains systems and procedures to ensure quality of customer service, inventory accuracy, optimization of storage space, and on-time delivery.
- Files freight claims for any loss or damage of inventory and notifies plant management.
- Uses the information systems to analyze, monitor, and measure the effectiveness of logistics activities and expenses.
SKILLS YOU BRING:
- Minimum of 3 years with verifiable planning/dispatching experience in the trucking industry with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- CDL Class A required with great driving record.
- Experience with computer-based dispatching systems.
- Must have knowledge of DOT and Hours of Service rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and email programs
- Can lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
- Committed to safe work practices.
- Must be able to multi-task, be organized, efficient, accurate and be accountable to job responsibilities.
