Call/Weekends/Holidays: Call every 8-9th weekend, Hoilday rotation including one major and one minor holiday a year
What We're Looking For:
- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelors Degree in Nursing, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.
- Experience:
- Two years demonstrated leadership experience, preferred.
- Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
- NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
- Board certification in area of practice, preferred.

What You'll Do:
The Hospice Nurse Manager provides leadership and oversight for the Glen Kiser Hospice House facility, which includes 6 inpatient beds (capacity for 9), respite care, and routine hospice services. This role ensures high-quality, compassionate care for patients in the inpatient setting, as well as those receiving hospice services in home or long-term care (LTC) environments. The Nurse Manager supervises a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for operational, clinical, and regulatory compliance.
Leadership & Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Glen Kiser Hospice facility and community-based hospice services.
- Manage a team of approximately 40 staff members, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and coverage for inpatient and community-based care.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development for team members.
- Address and resolve patient/family complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.
Clinical Oversight
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards for Hospice and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to hospice philosophy and best practices.
- May perform bedside care or home visits as needed to support patient care and team operations.
Quality & Safety
- Participate in safety and advisory boards to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Lead task forces (e.g., fall prevention) and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, staff performance, and operational efficiency.
Collaboration & Communication
- Foster strong relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Serve as a liaison between hospice leadership and staff, ensuring clear communication of goals and expectations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of hospice or palliative care experience preferred; leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, Joint Commission standards, and best practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a diverse team across inpatient and community settings.
- Experience with scheduling systems and staffing models.
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes and safety initiatives.Compassionate approach to end-of-life care and family support.
